Lisa's Easter Joy

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. Our current Funkie Junkie Focus theme is "Easter Joy" and I had fun making an Easter decor piece using lots of Tim Holtz goodies and the new Eileen Hull Storage Box Die.

One of my Eileen Hull Inspiration Team teammates had the idea of flipping the box upside down to make an exploding box card. I thought turning the box over was such a great idea, I wanted to try it. I created an Easter scene inside of mine:

I made some glittered Tiny Eggs and tried the new and improved method of making a chocolate 'Salvaged Rabbit' that Tim Holtz recently shared in one of his lives.

I made sure the back side was interesting too!

I covered the outside of the box with stamped panels (using the new Mr. Rabbit stamp set) and die cuts.

Here are a few 'in progress' photos:

1) Glittered eggs. First I colored some Distress Rock Candy Glitter with alcohol inks. (See this Tim Holtz tutorial to see how. It's really easy.)

Tim also shared several different ways to decorate the Tiny Eggs. You can see that here.

2) Here are all the box parts laid out.

There are rectangular strips on the die that you glue inside of the box to help the lid fit on snugly and stay in place. (It seems like a mystery piece at first ha ha.)

Teri's Easter Joy

Hello friends. It is Teri with TerisMailbox and I am happy to present this fun interactive Easter Card for The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

This is such a cute card! Even cuter when standing!

I have a complete video documenting the process HERE:

Do the Die Cutting

The new Vault Bunny and Chicks Die set is sooo cute! Start by die cutting the Wildflowers from watercolor cardstock and using Distress Watercolor Pencils to add color. Hint: Leave the blooms in the negative space to allow easy coloring!

Choose 2 shades of pink plus white and black cardstock for the Bunnies. Once Die Cut, glue together and edge with Lost Shadow ink.

Create a few eggs using different types of white cardstock. Glue the layers together and splatter with Speckled Egg Distress Ink.

Create the Card Base

Create the card base using 2 5.5 inch x 8.5 inches pieces of white cardstock. Overlap the two pieces over the center section and die cut an oval window in both pieces. Use the front panel as a template, lining up an A2 panel of Mixed Media Heavy Stock. Die cut another Oval piece.

Fold the card bases so you have an oval on top and in the middle of the card. Trim the right full panel to 1/4 inch and use red tape to attach so the ovals line up.

Use Intertwine Embossing Folder to impress on the A2 Heavy Stock A2 panel. Smooch Tea Die Distress Ink on your craft mat and smoosh the embossed piece in the ink to add color.

Once dry use Collage Medium to attach to the card base.

Assemble the Card

Start by centering a few blooms, a bunny and an egg on the center panel. I drew a faint pencil line outlining the oval prior to adding any pieces.

Trim any stems that overhang the base.

Next add the wildflowers, bunny and egg to the right closed panel, arranging so you see the second layer.

The last step is add another wildflower (I used the large daisy like image in addition to a third bunny and egg)

Add Sentiments

Using Black Ink of your choice, stamp Happy Easter and hippity hop on White cardstock. Trim Happy Easter into a banner shape adding two additional cardstock layers for depth. Glue to the lower front section.

Trim the hippity hop so the banner runs the width of the center panel. Glue in place.

Final Card

Janna's Easter Joy

Welcome, this week at TFJB Inspiration Ave, we are creating to the theme of “Easter Joy”. With the new stamp set Mr. Rabbit being released I absolutely have to make a card with him. Today we will be focusing on distress watercolor pencils and background making with alcohol ink and gesso.

For full process video click here.

Supplies used: alcohol inks lemonade, sandal  flamingo, aqua, and pistachio, distress archival black soot, distress watercolor pencils iced spruce, pumice stone, picked raspberry, chipped sapphire, mermaid lagoon, villainous potion, antique linen, distress specialty stamping paper, Mr. Rabbit CMS478, clear stamp set THMM183, Idea-ology flowers, white gesso.

For today’s project we will be diving into some art journaling. For art journaling I like using a mixed media journal or a watercolor journal. Here I have an 8x8 watercolor journal.

To start I painted on a coat of white mat gesso paint with a TH collage brush.

While the layer of gesso was drying I pulled in the new TH stamp set Mr. Rabbit CMS478 which will be the focal point of this mixed media project.

I started by stamping the rabbit in distress archival black soot ink and pulled in some distress watercolor pencils to add some color. For the substrate I used specialty stamping paper.

For colors I am using picked raspberry, chipped sapphire, mermaid lagoon, villainous potion, vintage photo, antique linen, pumice stone, and iced spruce.

I colored directly on the specialty stamping paper and then used a water brush to blend out the colors.

Below are the finished results of coloring with distress watercolor pencils on specialty stamping paper.

Next I cut out the rabbit using some tonic snips. I also stamped a couple of additional sentiments in distress archival black soot.

Typically we can only use alcohol inks on non-porous surfaces such as Yupo paper. Here I have coated this journal page with gesso. Now our once porous page is less porous and almost slick. With the paint acting as a barrier I am now able to add alcohol inks in a journal. For alcohol inks I am using aqua, pistachio, sandal, lemonade, and flamingo.

First I drizzled some blending solution on the page and then dripped alcohol ink over the top. I then moved the ink around with the TH Ranger ink blower tool.

Below are the results of using alcohol ink over gesso in a journal.

Next I brought back in the Mr. Rabbit stamp set. Using some of the background stamps in the set I altered the journal page with more black soot. I used the egg dye stamp and the checkered stamp to add some texture to the page.

Then I took the cut out rabbit and glued him into the journal with some collage medium.

For finishing touches I added some Idea-ology florals, two paper cut chicks from Sizzix, and  alcohol inked altered sentiments.

Thank you so much for joining me here today for TFJB Inspiration Ave. Until next time, happy crafting!

Lyla's Easter Joy

It's Lyla here, and I was late getting my project blogged due to the emergency and flying out so quickly, so my apologies if this posting comes out a bit later than usual for The Funkie Junkie Boutique's blog. (THANK YOU, Linda, for being so flexible with the Design Team whenever "life" happens!) It's all coming along- but the younger Kids will need some prayers along the way. :') The newest theme for TFJB Inspiration Ave is out and it's one of the sweetest days of the year for this one: "Easter Joy"! There are so many different ways - as well as many different craft items - to make something for this special holiday - and I'm up first with my take on this. I'm keeping to the heart of it with my double-sided tag I've titled HOPE. Scroll down with me and I'll show you how this Etcetera Tag came together.

I tore off the handles from a grocery brown paper sack to use them for the cross.

I trimmed them off, embossed them with Crackle Folder with Black Soot Oxide, and then used
some Oxide Ground Espresso Ink to age them.

I covered the inside heart from the Etcetera shape and after some sanding down, inked it with Oxide in Ground Espresso. My ChiefHubby found the cement nails for me- they were smaller and fit just right. The rust is real since these nails were probably in the storage area for quite some time.

I chose some Backdrops from different TH Volumes 1, 4, and 5 packets of paperie to cover my Etcetera pieces. Names for those in The Book of Life and an old receipt for payments that stood for "the cost" of life.

I added some stitching from my sewing machine after fussy-tearing and inking.

Each piece got some edging in the newest Scorched Timber Distress Crayon.

I needed some rays of light, and the TH Snowfall Paste- which a little added Oxide Squeezed Lemonade mixed in - added just the right amount of soft sparkle.

I gave these a couple of coats of paint each.

Then chose to use some Amythyst Alcohol Ink to bring out more of the purple in the Backdrop sheet.

I used some VERY OLD Rock Candy Crackle Paste for a few cracks on the white paint. then distressed it with some Distress Crayons on a water brush before putting it together.

Some seldom-used TH IdeaOlogy Bouquet: I peeled it apart to arrange it how I wanted.

Distressing the Salvaged Rabbit... I LOVE how Tim brought these back again for 2024!!

Some newer TH Word Tags along with older Heart Charms on a couple of TH Jump Rings helped the ribbons of color with sentiment. The ribbons were all Freebies from The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

Here's the HOPE Tag I ened up with:

FRONT

The perfect sentiment for this tag came from TH Quote Chip Labels.

BACK

The Idea-ology Salvaged Rabbits are sooo cute! So are chocolate bunnies, but I won't go there... ; )

The tiny BIBLE is a make I did last fall while making tiny books for another TFJB project.

Thanks so much for joining me on this joyful journey of HOPE in celebrating our "Joyful Easter" theme at TFJB Inspiration Ave!

Don't forget to pop back in every couple of days so you can enjoy the rest of our great Design Team's take on this latest theme from The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
